K4A is a Hanse 575 and she certainly has a presence, there is no doubt. Her plumb bow and squared transom combine with a sleek coach roof and flush decks to set her apart from her rivals. On deck her cockpit is expansive providing plenty of space for everyone. At the rear there is a large folding platform that doubles as storage for the dinghy, ensuring the deck is uncluttered as well as providing a huge bathing platform. It’s so large in fact that it’s the perfect place to set up some chairs with a cold beer to watch the sun go down.
The advantage of the steep sided hull immediately becomes apparent when you head downstairs. The headroom available is sufficient for even the tallest of sailors and those tall sailors will be needed to open the hatches otherwise the purpose built steps will need to be used! Natural light and air are in abundance thanks to the number of windows and hatches, or you could utilise the air conditioning if required.
There are three expansive double cabins, with the master suite occupying the full width of the bow. All the cabins and ensuite and are fitted with electric toilets. The skipper has a separate cabin which is accessed from the deck of the yacht.
At the base you are required to provide an Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA), which is currently 20% of the charter price. APA is like a ‘boat kitty’ that covers the variable expenses relating to fuel, water, food, beverages, alcoholic drinks and port fees. It is used by the staff to make payments during the holiday without disturbing you. Any remaining APA will be returned at the end of the charter, equally if expenses incurred exceed the APA paid then the additional expense is requested at the end of the charter.
